The dolls featured in my Kestner Korner are reproductions of antique
dolls made by the German manufacturer J. D. Kestner. They were part of
Kestner's "Wunderkind" series (ca. 1909), which came in a boxed set with one
complete doll and three exchangeable character heads. The original Kestners
were identified by a number, but a later mold manufacturer gave them the name
used to identify the ones you see in my collection. There are four dolls with
two being made into both a boy and girl doll making a total of six dolls in the
series.
All of my antique reproductions are hand
painted and costumed by myself. I try to bring back the nostalgic look of days
gone by. I use high quality materials (such as glass eyes, mohair wigs, silk
dresses, leather shoes) and adorable accessory toys for my repro creations.
Each antique repro comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The
certificate attests to the repro being painted and assembled by Annette
Herrmann and the doll's unique position in this open numbered
edition. |
